Acting Director, Institute for Governmental Service and Research

Stephan A. Sherman is the Acting Director of the Institute for Governmental Service and Research and is also responsible for the Institute's information technology services function. He was involved early on in the initial design and implementation of computerized management information systems that are nationally recognized in the criminal justice and substance abuse treatment fields. Mr. Sherman has more than twenty-five years administrative and management experience in areas of substance abuse, mental health, and developmental disabilities, and more than twelve years experience designing and enhancing information systems and operations at the national, state, and local levels. Prior to joining the Institute, he spent four years in University of Maryland's High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program. Mr. Sherman holds both an M.A. in Sociology and M.S.W. in Social Welfare Administration from University of California, Los Angeles and a B.A. in Sociology from California State University, Fullerton.
